El Observatorio para la Protección de los Defensores de Derechos Humanos de Colombia, solicita nuestra intervención URGENTE ante las recientes amenazas de muerte que han recibido la Hermana Maritze Trigos Torres, religiosa Dominica de la Presentación comprometida desde hace más de 25 años en la defensa de los derechos humanos, que acompaña y asesora de AFAVIT (Asociación de Familiares Víctimas de Trujillo)  y Orlando Naranjo, Presidente de AFAVIT, con los cuales Acción Verapaz ha colaborado en proyectos de cooperación y les considera amigos suyos, pues nos han visitado en dos ocasiones en España y siente una gran admiración y reconocimiento a su labor en defensa de los Derechos humanos en Colombia.

Por eso te invitamos a que envíes –por correo electrónico- la carta que te adjuntamos a las siguientes direcciones de correo, para que cesen las amenazas de muerte que están recibiendo:

CARTA A LAS AUTORIDADES DE COLOMBIA

Ante las recientes amenazas de muerte recibidas por el Sr. Orlando Naranjo, Presidente de la Asociación de Familiares Víctimas de Trujillo (AFAVIT), Valle del Cauca, y la Hermana Maritze Trigos Torres, religiosa Dominica de la Presentación comprometida desde hace más de 25 años en la defensa de los derechos humanos, que acompaña y asesora la AFAVIT, así como sobre el recién ocurrido atentado con armas de fuego contra la Sra. Miyerlady Rojas Gallego, miembro de la AFAVIT y educadora de niñas y niños del Grupo infantil “Jimmy Garcia Peña”, y sus familiares nos dirigimos a las autoridades de Colombia instándolas a:

i.    Adoptar de manera inmediata las medidas más apropiadas para garantizar la vida, la seguridad y la integridad física y psicológica de la Hermana Maritze Trigos, del Sr. Orlando Naranjo, de la Sra. Miyerlady Rojas Gallego, sus familiares y otros miembros de la AFAVIT, así como de todos los defensores de derechos humanos en Colombia.

ii.    Llevar a cabo una investigación independiente, inmediata, exhaustiva e imparcial en torno a los hechos arriba denunciados con el fin de identificar a los responsables, llevarlos ante un tribunal competente, independiente, justo e imparcial y aplicarles las sanciones penales, y/o administrativas previstas por la ley.

iii.    Velar por que se ponga fin a todo tipo de hostigamiento y amenazas en contra de la Hermana Maritze Trigos Torres, el Sr. Orlando Naranjo, contra la Sra. Miyerlady Rojas Gallego así como la de sus familiares y, en general, en contra de todos los defensores de derechos humanos en Colombia.

iv.    Afirmar públicamente la legitimidad de las actividades de las organizaciones y defensores de derechos humanos de Colombia.

v.    Asegurar la aplicación de lo dispuesto por la Declaración sobre los Defensores de los Derechos Humanos de la ONU, en particular en lo referente a la protección del derecho de toda persona “individual o colectivamente, a promover y procurar la protección y realización de los derechos humanos y las libertades fundamentales en los planos nacional e internacional” (Art.1), así como en lo relativo al deber del Estado de garantizar “la protección de toda persona, individual o colectivamente, frente a toda violencia, amenaza, represalia, discriminación, negativa de hecho o de derecho, presión o cualquier otra acción arbitraria resultante del ejercicio legítimo de los derechos mencionados en la presente Declaración” (Art.12.2).

vi.    De manera general, garantizar el respeto por los derechos humanos y las libertades fundamentales en todo el país de conformidad con las normas internacionales de derechos humanos ratificadas por Colombia.
