Estamos en el XXIII aniversario del martirio de los jesuitas de la UCA (El Salvador). Frente a lo que a veces se ha dicho, Ignacio Ellacuría, I. Martín Baró y el resto de jesuitas fueron vilmente asesinados: por su fe cristiana que se realiza en el amor y la justicia con los pobres.

Como se ha dicho muy bien, los jesuitas de la UCA son mártires, en especial, de la doctrina social de la iglesia. La cual ellos encarnaron, profética y testimonialmente, hasta el martirio, en su entrega, servicio y compromiso solidario, en la caridad política y la justicia liberadora con los pobres. Ellos, de forma admirable, se responsabilizaron y comprometieron, espiritual-moralmente, por el bien común, por un mundo con más fraternidad y vida, dignidad, paz e igualdad.

Ya dejó claro el maestro K. Rahner, que esta entrega y servicio en la justicia con los pobres, como la que realizó Mons. Romero, tenía que ser asimismo considerado martirio. En el camino de la iglesia latinoamericana, con su recepción y aplicación del Concilio Vaticano II. Tal como se realizó en las Conferencias de Medellín o Puebla, los jesuitas de la UCA transmitieron y testificaron, con su vida, el carácter socio-político de la fe en la caridad.
