(Una democracia con estilo propio: hay otras más hipócritas)
Un país en el que los niños son llevados hasta el límite, presionados hasta exprimirles la infancia, para que se dediquen a sacar buenas notas, (no sólo buenas, sino las mejores, esas con las que aparecerá una foto suya en las paradas de los autobuses al final del curso), porque a los 12 años ya se decide quién es listo y quien es tonto, quién va a hacer carrera universitaria, y quien a limpiar caminos. A los 12 años, los niños son separados en niveles A,B y C y los A´s tendrán que seguir compitiendo por ser los mejores en todo, porque es lo que se espera de ellos, y los padres pagan mucho dinero para ello, y los c´s podrán seguir un poco más relajados,…nadie se va a esforzar por enseñar nada a unos niños tontos que no quieren aprender.
Y qué decir, si ves la raza de cada niño, ya sabes que de los chinos se esperan A´s, y de los malayos C´s,… todo parece tan predeterminado…
Es un país en el que caminas muy seguro, sabes que nada te va a pasar, y si te pasase, un policía (a los que no ves, porque van de paisanos,…algunos dicen que son taxistas) aparecerá en una media de 4 o 5 minutos. Si el delito es poco grave, como ir borracho por la calle, sólo le caerán unos azotes. Si el delito es muy grave, será pena de muerte.
Los viernes son las ejecuciones,…el verdugo (menos mal que sólo hay uno, y no es carrera que se estudia) ha tenido trabajo a lo largo de los años.
Y qué decir de otros problemas sociales…”si no hay persona, no hay problema”,…que frase tan sabia, la de…?Stalin?…porque tanto el consumo como la posesión de droga implica pena de muerte, asi que se ahorran todo el coste de la rehabilitación.
Un país donde la palabra que más les gusta es eficiencia. Estan orgullosos de decir que ellos andan más rápido que en otros países tropicales, porque su gobierno les inculca “eficiencia”.
Una eficiencia maravillosa, cuando ves que hay un estupendo sistema de transportes integrado y puntual, y moderno (como trenes sin conductor, etc), o cuando te devuelven el dinero que has pagado porque el aire acondicionado del autobús no funciona, y aún te dan otro viaje gratis y te hacen cambiarte de autobús.
Una eficacia insostenible, cuando dentro de todos los edificios y mayoría de transportes tienen aire acondicionado, y es un símbolo de estatus, así que cuánto más alto lo tengan más categoría le darán al lugar, a pesar de que fuera estén a 30 grados, dentro en manga larga o chaqueta.
Derrumbar edifios de 15 plantas, no muy antiguos, para construirlos de 50. Quieren doblar su propia población en 20 años, ´para no depender de los extranjeros.
Un país en el que el medioambiente les importa una mierda, no saben qué es el reciclaje o conservación de bienes, sólo lo nuevo es válido, y aunque haya aviones cazas volando cada dia entre edificios para hacer sus operaciones, la población no se queja, porque les han enseñado que es por el bien de defender su país.
Y es que a los ciudadanos les inculcan miedo también, miedo a los países “pobres y llenos de delincuencia” de alrededor, mientras que ellos “tienen la suerte de vivir en uno tan rico y pueden despilfarrar tanto…”, les inculcan que tomen vacaciones en su diminuto país. Porque, que no se olviden nunca, ellos son felices. Y ricos. ¿O estamos hablando de lo mismo?
Y todo se rige por multas, cualquier cosa que hagas fuera de la ley, tiene una multa asociada, cuando no un castigo corporal, asi que en el muro en el que estaba el tablón de vecinos de mi edificio, en vez de aparecer los números de teléfono de los vecinos, aparece una lista interminable de cosas horribles que no puedes hacer (tirarte vestido a la piscina, subir con fruta maloliente…), y la cantidad de dinero que habras de pagar, de ignorarlo.
De hecho, la camiseta turistica vendida es la del slogan «singapore is a fine city», donde juegan con el doble juego del significado de «fine». Fine significa «bonita», pero tambien multa en inglès, y debajo hay una foto de VARIAs cosas PROHIBIDAS en Singapur…
