Los jóvenes prefieren llevar la religión por dentro. El director del Instituto de la Juventud (Injuve), Gabriel Alconchel, ha advertido de que según los últimos sondeos recogidos por la institución entre jóvenes de 15 a 29 años, en los últimos años se está produciendo un “desplazamiento de lo religioso hacia el ámbito privado” entre los jóvenes.
El estudio, que ha hecho público el instituto dependiente del Ministerio de Sanidad, recoge que el número de católicos practicantes en esta franja de edad ha descendido del 29,5% en 2002 al 10,3% en noviembre de 2010, mientras que los no practicantes alcanzan cerca del 45% del total de jóvenes. Los no creyentes (agnósticos y ateos) han pasado de ser un 10% en 2002 a casi un 20% a finales del año pasado. El director del Injuve ha explicado que este cambio se debe a que “en los últimos años se está viviendo un fenómeno de modernización y secularización muy fuerte”.
Estos datos le han servido al representante del instituto para justificar la presentación de una nueva edición de la revista de estudios de juventud Injuve, que tiene como título Jóvenes y Laicidad. Alconchel, en relación a la temática de la misma, ha mostrado su intención por “acabar con la confusión que existe alrededor del concepto de la laicidad, que genera falsos debates semánticos”.
El coordinador de la revista y miembro del equipo de investigación de la Fundació Ferrer i Guàrdia, Jesús Sanz, ha señalado que “se percibe un rechazo de los jóvenes a las doctrinas propugnadas por la Iglesia Católica, ya que “estas chocan con la modernidad y con las actividades realizadas habitualmente” por la juventud. Asimismo, ha reconocido que la Iglesia “es muy consciente” de que su estrategia debe girar en torno a los jóvenes, sin embargo, señala que “deberían ser menos agresivos en sus planteamientos”.
Diferenciar entre educación y formación religiosa
Ante el incremento de los no creyentes, Alconchel ha defendido que la laicidad “no se opone a la religión porque garantiza que todas las personas puedan practicar la religión que deseen en un contexto de igualdad, sin prevalencias ni privilegios de unas sobre otras”.
Al respecto, el director del Injuve ha coincidido en apuntar que “la educación es uno de los elementos de disputa en torno a la laicidad en España” y ha destacado la “importancia de asumir que Educación para la Ciudadanía es una asignatura básica” en este sentido.
