Los ricos poseen un poco menos pero a los pobres no les alcanza para vivir. Siendo una crisis creada por el sistema capitalista, acaban, como siempre, pagándola los pobres. Ya son, según la Secretaría de Estado de Empleo, 4,7 millones de personas jóvenes, de media edad y mayores sin trabajo. Sin hablar del millón largo de familias con todos sus miembros en paro. Millones de compatriotas vagan de una oficina a otra, telefonean, lloran, escriben, se entrevistan en vano. No hay trabajo. Las cifras tapan el drama de cada una de estas personas y familias.
3. La crisis castiga aún más a los inmigrantes. Su situación es ciertamente angustiosa. Muchos trabajaban en un sector inmobiliario casi hundido; otros, como temporeros en el turismo, que ha dado un bajón en la mayoría de las zonas; otros, en el campo al que ahora vuelven los nacionales; y otros, en el servicio doméstico donde las familias recortan gastos y piden papeles que muchos aún no tienen. La Directiva de Retorno o de la Vergüenza deporta a 500.000 al año a terceros países, con la prohibición de volver a la UE en 5 años. Y países como Italia y España están criminalizando la hospitalidad con los inmigrantes.
4. Visión desde el Evangelio. Si miramos esta situación desde el Evangelio, descubrimos que es justamente la contraria al cuidado del otro, a la compasión y la hospitalidad que se desprenden de los gestos de Jesús. Él abrazaba a los niños, bendecía a los marginados, amaba a los pobres. La memoria subversiva de estos gestos la recogen fielmente sus primeros seguidores en expresiones como éstas: “no podéis servir a Dios y al capital”; o “tuve hambre y me disteis de comer, tuve sed y me disteis de beber; era forastero y me acogisteis; estaba sin papeles y sin trabajo y me disteis hospitalidad” (Mt 25)
5. Importancia de tu participación en las Elecciones Europeas. Si la crisis es mundial, también en Europa estamos éticamente obligados a participar a fondo en la búsqueda de salidas desde todos los ángulos posibles. En concreto, como Iglesia de Base de Madrid, queremos una Europa:
– Que se tome en serio la actual crisis global, que puede ser comienzo de una nueva era y que, en modo alguno, permite “regenerar” otra vez el mismo sistema capitalista que la ha engendrado; su profundidad nos está exigiendo superar las causas que la han provocado y crear un sistema nuevo que, partiendo del multiculturalismo existente, camine hacia una interculturalidad que respete la diversidad y elimine las discriminaciones por razones de clase, género, etnia, cultura, religión, procedencia geográfica, etcétera;
– que apueste por los ciudadanos y los pueblos antes que por el capital y los paraísos fiscales; por el Estado y los derechos democráticos de las sociedades antes que por el mercado; por la equiparación de los derechos sociales y el estatuto de los trabajadores antes que por la deslocalización de las empresas y la explotación de la mano de obra barata; por los servicios públicos en alimentación, educación, sanidad universal y vivienda protegida, antes que por los privados. Pues el derecho inalienable que asiste a los ciudadan@s en su conjunto es anterior a la pérdida de calidad de vida para una minoría que ha identificado bienestar y consumo;
– que se tome muy en serio la defensa del Planeta -casa común en la que toda la cadena de la vida es ecodependiente-, abocada a la muerte por un desarrollo no siempre necesario y sometida a permanente explotación salvaje y a la injusta apropiación por los ricos de los recursos de los países más pobres.
– Apostamos por una Europa que, haciendo memoria selectiva de su vasta y ambivalente cultura, se implique, más que en una nueva colonización del mundo por medio de sus transnacionales, en la calidad humana de todas las vidas, la educación técnico-científica y la hospitalidad con los excluidos de los pueblos y continentes empobrecidos.
– Rechazamos los tratados comerciales de la UE con los gobiernos de los pueblos empobrecidos de África y América Latina que han profundizado el desmantelamiento de la producción agrícola, el desempleo, la violencia, la migración y la pobreza en todas sus dimensiones. Y apoyamos una Europa que haga frente a esta catástrofe humanitaria implicándose en las justas reivindicaciones de los pueblos.
– Rechazamos el militarismo creciente en la UE que, asociado a la OTAN, se dispone a intervenir en cualquier parte del globo en defensa de los intereses económicos de las transnacionales y de la dominación política del capitalismo neoliberal.
Ante las elecciones al Parlamento Europeo del 7 de junio, Iglesia de Base de Madrid te invita a movilizarte políticamente, participando con tu voto en las urnas o expresando públicamente de otro modo la idea de Europa en la que crees y por la que luchas.
