Eduardo Galeano deixounos no día de onte. Escritor e activista moi apreciado na nosa comunidade; temos aproveitado para as nosas celebracións e vivencias moitos dos seus textos.

Lembraremos as súas verbas, mais queremos rendir dende aquí unha pequena homenaxe á súa persoa.

Eduardo Galeano, nado en Montevideo o 3 de setembro de 1940 e finado na mesma cidade o 13 de abril de 2015, foi un xornalista e escritor uruguaio, un dos persoeiros máis destacados da literatura iberoamericana. Os seus libros foron traducidos a varios idiomas. Os seus traballos transcenden xéneros ortodoxos, combinando documental, ficción, xornalismo, análise política e historia.

Galeano nega ser un historiador: «Soy un escritor que quisiera contribuir al rescate de la memoria secuestrada de toda América, pero sobre todo de América Latina, tierra despreciada y entrañable». Clasifícase como un xornalista que estuda a globalización e os seus efectos negativos”.
