«La Curia tiene un defecto: es Vaticano-Céntrica. Ve y se ocupa de los intereses del Vaticano y olvida el mundo que le rodea. No comparto esta visión y haré de todo para cambiarlo», explicó Francisco en una entrevista publicada hoy en el diario «La Repubblica» y firmada por el fundador del rotativo, Eugenio Scalfari.
La entrevista se publica al tiempo que arranca la primera reunión que mantendrá el papa con el llamado G8 de la Iglesia, el Consejo de ocho cardenales nombrados por Francisco para analizar la posible reforma de la Curia romana.
«La Iglesia tiene que volver a ser una comunidad del pueblo de Dios y los presbíteros, los párrocos y los obispos deben estar al servicio del pueblo de Dios», añadió el papa Jorge Bergoglio.
Para el exarzobispo de Buenos Aires, en el pasado «los jefes de la Iglesia han sido a menudo narcisistas, adulados por sus cortesanos» y agregó que «la Corte es la lepra del papado».
Sobre su visión de la Iglesia, explicó que no se debe basar en el «proselitismo» sino «en escuchar las necesidades, las desilusiones, la desesperación y dar esperanza a los jóvenes y ayudar a los viejos, abrir al futuro y difundir el amor. Ser pobres entre los pobres».
Bergoglio indicó en esta entrevista de tres páginas que en el Concilio Vaticano II se decidió «mirar al futuro con espíritu moderno y abrir a la cultura moderna, que significaba ecumenismo religioso y diálogo con los no creyentes».
Pero el pontífice reconoció que «hasta ahora se ha hecho poco» y anunció que él tiene «la humildad y la ambición» de llevar a acabo ese camino de la Iglesia hacia la modernidad.
Respecto a los cambios que tiene previsto acometer, recordó como ha nombrado el Consejo de los ocho cardenales para que le aconsejen.
«No son cortesanos sino personas sabias, animadas por mis mismos sentimientos. Esto es el inicio de una Iglesia con una organización no sólo vertical sino también horizontal», destacó.
Durante la conversación con Scalfari, Francisco bromeó al asegurar que cuando tiene delante un «clerical» también él se vuelve «anticlerical de golpe» y es que, explicó, «el clericalismo nada tiene que ver con el cristianismo y que San Pablo fue el primero que habló con los paganos, los creyentes de otras religiones».
Por otra parte, aseveró que la Iglesia «no se ocupará de política», pues «las instituciones políticas son laicas por definición y actúan en esferas diferentes».
«La Iglesia no irá más allá de su deber de expresar y difundir sus valores, al menos mientras yo esté aquí», confirmó.
En la entrevista también se tocan asuntos de actualidad y Bergoglio consideró que «los grandes males que afligen el mundo son el desempleo de los jóvenes y la soledad en la que ha dejado a los viejos».
«Los viejos necesitan cuidados y compañía. Los jóvenes trabajo y esperanza», indicó.
El papa también criticó el «liberalismo salvaje» que hace que «los fuertes se hagan más fuertes, los débiles más débiles y los excluidos más excluidos», y añadió que «se necesitan reglas de comportamiento y si fuera necesario también la intervención del Estado para corregir las desigualdades más intolerables».
En la entrevista, el papa habla de los santos de su experiencia religiosa y, aunque matizó que no se puede hacer una clasificación de preferidos «como si fueran futbolistas argentinos», los «más cercanos a su alma» son San Francisco y San Agustín.
Sobre la «vocación mística» de algunos santos, Bergoglio explicó que no cree que tenga esta vocación, aunque desveló como tras ser elegido papa y mientras esperaba antes de asomarse al balcón de la basílica de San Pedro cerró los ojos y dejó de sentir «el ansia y la emotividad»
«Una gran luz me invadió, duró sólo un momento aunque me pareció muchísimo tiempo. Luego la luz se disipó, yo me levante de golpe y me dirigí a la mesa donde estaban los cardenales para firmar el acto de aceptación. Y firme», relató.
El papa termina la entrevista con Scalfari prometiendo un nuevo diálogo con el periodista, que se define ateo y a quien ya dirigió una carta sobre los no creyentes, en el que se afrontarán asuntos como el papel de la mujer en la Iglesia.
