El Principito salió de su mundo en busca de aventura y en cada planeta se topó con una lindeza del alma humana. No se levantó del pupitre, sino que aprendió la lección y se la recitó al mundo.
El librito es un catálogo de moralejas. Pero en su credo no hay castigos, purgas, prohibiciones ni negaciones. Sus mandamientos hablan 180 lenguas diferentes, los siguen niños y adultos, no creyentes y hombres de fe. Imperecedero, se puede leer ayer, hoy y mañana. Su enseñanza es simple y a la vez encierra toda la complejidad del mundo, del ser humano como universal.
1.- «Solo con el corazón se puede ver bien. Lo esencial es invisible para los ojos». Es su primer mandamiento. Lo valioso no se mide ni se toca. Tampoco se paga con dinero. Una lección muy aplicable a la situación de crisis actual en la que la avaricia ha sepultado los principios importantes.
2.- Su segundo principio apuesta por saber valorar la simplicidad de las cosas. «Las personas mayores no son capaces de comprender las cosas por sí mismas. Es muy aburrido para los niños tener que darles una y otra vez explicaciones», dice en el libro.
3.- El héroe literario cree que «uno es para siempre responsable de lo que domestica», que el roce hace el cariño, valora el valor de la amistad, de la responsabilidad y del compromiso. «Yo no te necesito, tú tampoco tienes necesidad de mí, pero si me domesticas, entonces tendremos necesidad el uno del otro. Tú serás para mí único en el mundo, yo seré para ti único en el mundo», le dijo a su amigo el zorro.
4.- El personaje cree que es importante conocer las propias limitaciones y que «se le debe pedir a cada uno lo que está a su alcance realizar». En su decálogo de enseñanzas también anima a hacer ejercicio de autocrítica. «Es mucho más difícil juzgarse a sí mismo que juzgar a los otros. Si consigues juzgarte rectamente es que eres un sabio».
5.- Hablando de su flor, la rosa que abandonó en su planeta antes de partir, el Principito señalaba: «Debí haberla juzgado por sus actos y no por sus palabras, me perfumaba y me iluminaba, ni debí haber huido jamás». Debí haber adivinado su ternura, detrás de sus pobres astucias. ¡Las flores son tan contradictorias! Pero yo era demasiado joven para saber amarla». En su sexto mandamiento al final el principito reconoce el valor de la experiencia.
6.- Además de valorar la amistad y la complicidad, el personaje también tiene su interpretación relativa. «Amor no es mirarse el uno al otro , sino mirar los dos en la misma dirección», dice. En la era del Iphone, en el que muchas parejas se miran y no se ven, el Principito apuesta por remar en la misma dirección, hablar y comunicar.
7.- En su periplo el héroe literario ya percibió el olor a podrido de las finanzas. «Conozco un planeta en el que vive un señor muy colorado. Nunca ha olido una flor. Nunca ha contemplado una estrella. Nunca ha amado a nadie. Nunca ha hecho otra cosa que sumas. Se pasa el día diciendo: ‘Soy un hombre serio, soy un hombre serio’, lo que le hace hincharse de orgullo. ¡Pero eso no es un hombre, es un hongo!», dice el relato literario.
8.- Un mandamiento enlaza con el otro y al niño eterno le molesta que se valore a la gente por lo que tiene y no por lo que es. Dice que «a los mayores les gustan las cifras. Cuando se les habla de un nuevo amigo jamás preguntan lo esencial del mismo. Nunca preguntan: ‘¿Qué tono tiene su voz? ¿Qué juegos prefiere? ¿Le gusta coleccionar mariposas? Pero en cambio preguntan ¿Qué edad tiene? ¿Cuanto pesa? ¿Cuanto gana su padre? Solamente con esos detalles creen conocerte’.
9.- En su encuentro con el hombre de negocios, el Principito le pregunta al avaro qué hace con todas las estrellas que posee. – «Nada, solo las poseo», le responde el financiero. – «Y ¿para qué te sirve poseer las estrellas?», le dice el héroe ficticio. – «Me sirve para ser mas rico». Para comprar más estrellas si alguien las encuentra». – Pero «¿Cómo se pueden poseer las estrellas?».
10.- Última moraleja: todas nuestras acciones tienen consecuencias. «Nada en el universo sigue siendo igual si en alguna parte, no se sabe dónde, un cordero que no conocemos ha comido, o no, a una rosa…». Todo lo que sucede al otro lado del mundo, de una u otra manera, nos acaba afectando.
