Ante el incendio del pasado martes 18 en los bajos de un edificio de la calle Santa Marta, en pleno Casco Vello, en el que pernoctaban varias personas sin techo, el Grupo de autoaxuda Imán-Cedro desea expresar, en primer lugar, su satisfacción por la rápida y ejemplar reacción de las personas implicadas (policías, bomberos, personal de la guardería cercana, vecinos y vecinas…) que se esforzaron por proteger a los ciudadanos y ciudadanas que podrían haberse visto afectados por dicho suceso, especialmente a los menores que se encontraban en la guardería municipal.
En segundo lugar, la circunstancia de que el edificio incendiado, cuya obrase encontraba paralizada, fuera utilizado como hogar improvisado por varias personas sin techo, nos lleva una vez más a reflexionar públicamente acerca de las durísimas condiciones de vida que padecen muchos compañeros y compañeras, frecuentemente enfermos, sin un espacio que reúna los mínimos requisitos de seguridad y habitabilidad que les permita vivir con dignidad. Este
incendio desafortunado, en el que quienes allí se refugiaban de la intemperie perdieron lo poquísimo que poseían, nos devuelve la imagen dolorosa de una clase política, la viguesa, que, más allá de las siglas bajo las que se ampare (PP, PSOE, BNG), no sólo no ha sabido o querido a lo largo de todos estos años dar una respuesta justa y solidaria a la situación de las personas sin hogar en nuestra ciudad poniendo en marcha de una vez por todas un dispositivo residencial para los ciudadanos y ciudadanas sin techo; sino que, por el contrario, ha mantenido conductas reprobables e insolidarias que frenaron una tras otra las distintas alternativas existentes para el Centro de
Emergencia Social.
En la actualidad, ante la incomprensible demora en el inicio de las obras en el antiguo edificio de la Escuela de Hostelería para el Centro de Acogimiento Polivalente y el reciente ofrecimiento al Concello de Vigo por parte del Padre
Carlos−Misioneras del Silencio de las instalaciones del actual albergue Juan XXIII en la calle Marqués de Valterra, solicitamos públicamente a la Corporación Municipal y, especialmente, al Alcalde de nuestra ciudad que negocie con carácter de urgencia con quien sea pertinente (Misioneras del Silencio, Obispo de la Diócesis Tui-Vigo…) la inmediata recuperación del inmueble en cuestión −de titularidad municipal, aunque cedido para su uso actual a las Misioneras del Silencio hasta septiembre de 2012−, para la puesta en marcha inmediata del definitivo Centro de Emergencia Social para personas sin hogar, que convertirá Vigo en una ciudad más solidaria y acogedora.
Por último, queremos informar de que en la última reunión del Grupo Imán hemos acordado que el próximo jueves 27 de octubre desarrollaremos nuestra reunión ordinaria a las 11:30 de la mañana en la Plaza del Rey bajo la consigna «Petar no corazón de todas e todos os concelleiros de Vigo» para exigirles una reacción inmedita que permita poner en marcha con la máxima celeridad ese dispositivo social tan necesario.
