O pasado sábado emitiron o documental «Menores y guardianes» que analiza a situación que sofren «en España más de 1.000 menores viven en régimen cerrado en centros.»

Así o resumen na web de rtve.es: En 2004 Phillip García, de 16 años, aparece muerto en un centro de menores de Tenerife. Cinco años después, la justicia imputó por torturas y amenazas a varios trabajadores del centro. La historia de este joven no es la única que aparece en este documental, que comienza preguntándose por los delitos y castigos de aquellos que aún no han cumplido dieciocho años.

Los crímenes más terribles, protagonizados por menores suelen ocupar portadas, debates y generar viscerales condenas sociales. Sin embargo, el delito más común es el robo y en estos últimos años ha aumentado alarmantemente hasta un 20%, el maltrato de los hijos a sus propios padres.

Existen dos tipos de centros para menores: los de reforma, donde van los que han cometido un delito a partir de los catorce años y los de protección, en los que viven los niños sin familia o los tutelados por la Administración.

Documentos Tv ha entrado en los centros de medidas judiciales y ha hablado con los menores que cumplen penas de internamiento. Fiscales, comunidades autónomas, jueces, educadores y familias, nos han relatado algunos de los aspectos más desconocidos de la justicia juvenil en España.

«Menores y guardianes» no solo relata los delitos que comenten los jóvenes y su tratamiento, sino que es la crónica del recorrido, que separa a un niño peligroso de un menor en peligro.

Desde 2001, y a diferencia de las cárceles para adultos, las diferentes Administraciones han otorgado la gestión de estos centros a entidades privadas, sin ánimo de lucro, cuyos presupuestos manejan decenas de millones de euros.

Pero no es la única crítica que reciben estos centros. «Menores y guardianes» recoge las denuncias de familiares, educadores e instituciones por abusos, malos tratos y aislamiento. Así lo constataron sendos informes que en 2009, el Defensor del Pueblo y Amnistía Internacional emitieron y que la justicia está investigando, actualmente en toda España.
