En tercer lugar, los movimientos de banca ética se encuentran con otro grave problema: el pequeño o mediano tamaño de sus iniciativas impide, al menos en apariencia, que sus acciones tengan verdadero calado e influencia sobre el conjunto de los mercados financieros.
Ante estos problemas planteados, existen verdaderas soluciones, viables, y de un gran potencial. Ante la indiferencia de los usuarios, la banca ética puede realizar un ejercicio de poner frente a la espejo a dichos usuarios, mostrarles lo que hacen en realidad la mayoría de los bancos tradicionales, los juegos arriesgados que realizan con sus ahorros y las inversiones en todo tipo de industrias criminales a las que se dedican; mostrarles todo esto y preguntarles si es eso lo que quieren que se haga con su dinero, si todas estas acciones se justifican por obtener el máximo beneficio para sus ahorros. Aunque parezca que a gran parte del público no le importan estas cuestiones, es más posible que, simplemente, prefiera no saber lo que ocurre, y eso no significa que no actúe honradamente cuando se le ofrezcan alternativas reales.
Ante la desconfianza de lo usuarios, se puede exigir una máxima transparencia de las actuaciones de los movimientos de banca ética: cualquier depositante podría tener acceso a la información sobre el estado de las cuentas de una cierta iniciativa de banca ética, las líneas de inversión que se siguen y los proyectos que se financian. Ante la dificultad de plantearse objetivos ambiciosos por el tamaño pequeño o mediano de estas iniciativas, ofrecer una alternativa real y localizada a dos de los pilares de las instituciones financieras tradicionales: sustituir el papel de las instituciones financieras internacionales (IFIs) como el Grupo Banco Mundial o el Fondo Monetario Internacional; ofreciendo préstamos y financiación, a pequeña escala, a estados de los países del Sur, sin condiciones previas, sin modificaciones de sus políticas económicas a nivel local, haciendo ver que es real y posible una financiación de proyectos centrada en el desarrollo de los propios países beneficiarios, a diferencia de las ofrecidos por las IFIs. Se trata, en definitiva, de sustituir a las IFIs en en papel que se, en su fundación, se impusieron: el desarrollo de los países del Sur, algo que se demostró era una simple excusa para poder imponer su política colonial por otros métodos, más sutiles y, por tanto, con más posibilidades de éxtio.
Ofreciendo, así mismo, una alternativa a los bancos tradicionales, gestionado el dinero de los ahorradores sin especulación y sin riesgos: evitando la complejidad de productos como las titulizaciones, los SWAPS, los REPOS, etc. Actuando con una conciencia responsable a la hora de invertir, favoreciendo el desarrollo, a nivel local y solidario, con dichas inversiones.
Estos hechos diferenciales de las iniciativas de banca ética deben quedar claramente reflejados en sus actuaciones, en la difusión de sus actividades y en la lucha que mantienen con el mundo capitalista globalizado que engulle día a día los recursos del mundo entero.
