Dende SICSAL piden apoio ante a situación que está a vivir o mexicano Raúl Vera:

«El pasado 14 de julio fueron colocadas en el atrio de la Catedral de Santiago, en Saltillo, Coahuila, cuatro mantas con mensajes dirigidos a don Raúl Vera López. El mensaje señalaba: “Queremos un obispo católico”.

Defensoras y defensores de derechos humanos integrantes de diversas organizaciones condenamos enérgicamente esta acción, calificada como un hostigamiento grave en contra de Fray Raúl Vera López OP, Obispo de la Diócesis de Saltillo. Por ello expresamos nuestro apoyo y solidaridad con don Raúl, quien a través de su vocación de servicio y su compromiso ardiente con la justicia social, en congruencia con su labor Pastoral, se ha convertido en un importante Defensor de los Derechos Humanos de los sectores más excluidos y vulnerables de nuestra sociedad.

Quienes hemos dado seguimiento al camino de don Raúl, estamos convencidos de que su ministerio es testimonio vivo de la Iglesia de Jesús;

1. una Iglesia solidaria y testimonialmente pobre, comprometida con la liberación de  los empobrecidos, excluidos y excluidas del mundo; una Iglesia de hermanos y hermanas, con igualdad de derechos para mujeres y hombres;

2. una Iglesia acogedora y comprensiva, que no amenaza ni excluye a nadie y que está abierta a todas las personas y grupos sociales que luchan por la justicia social, la paz, la libertad y la felicidad para todos los seres humanos;

3. una Iglesia que respeta y reafirma la libertad de conciencia y la autoridad moral de las personas;

4. una Iglesia que respeta la diversidad en su interior, participativa, democrática.

Por lo anterior, hacemos un llamado a los líderes de las distintas Iglesias y confesiones religiosas de México, al pueblo creyente y a la ciudadanía en general, a manifestar su solidaridad con el obispo Raúl Vera, cuya práctica evangélica invita a sumarnos a su denuncia en contra de la corrupción y la impunidad.

Estamos en alerta ante el hostigamiento que atenta contra su integridad física, su ministerio y la seguridad de sus colaboradoras y colaboradores en la diócesis de Saltillo. Sepan, quienes lo han hecho, que don Raúl y la diócesis no están solos, pues muchas y muchos hacemos nuestro su compromiso en defensa de una vida digna para todas y todos.

Finalmente, exigimos el cese inmediato de todo hostigamiento contra el obispo Raúl Vera López y demandamos a las autoridades competentes, locales y federales, que se realicen las investigaciones necesarias para la resolución de su caso.»
