«Por contrapartida -argumenta Casaldáliga- crece una fe adulta y corresponsable en muchos sectores del laicado. Pero hay una libertad de espíritu, que puede tener sus excesos pero que tiene mucho de vivencia personalizada y comunitaria, signo de los tiempos, seguimiento de Jesús y apertura profética al mundo de hoy».
Según el obispo catalán, «el ecumenismo y el macroecumenismo se impondrán» y advierte que, en la misión de las Iglesias de América Latina, «hemos de asumir el despertar organizado de los pueblos primigenios de nuestra Afroamerindia».
Nacido en Balsareny (Barcelona) en 1928, Casaldáliga ha cumplido 84 años y batalla contra la enfermedad del Parkinson, pero sigue «con la opción por los pobres, como gran motivación de mi vida».
Casaldáliga se define como «un misionero claretiano que reconoce haber fallado mucho como miembro de la Congregación, a la que debo casi todo».
«Ahora miro de aceptar con humor esperanzado las limitaciones que me impone el Parkinson y la solicitud de los que me acompañan», explica el obispo de la liberación, que dedica más horas a meditar, recibir visitas y escribir algunos mensajes, mientras recomienda a la Iglesia que asuma «de lleno el desafío de los medios de comunicación».
