1. El cincuenta aniversario de la clausura del Concilio Vaticano II está despertando en muchas comunidades cristianas un creciente interés por un acontecimiento que se planteó en profundidad la relación de la Iglesia con el mundo. Las dos preguntas básicas que flotaban en el aula conciliar eran: “Iglesia, qué puedes ofrecerle hoy al mundo” y “Mundo, qué le exiges hoy a la Iglesia”?
Hoy, cincuenta años después, deberíamos hacernos las mismas preguntas porque tanto el mundo como la Iglesia han cambiado sustancialmente. Ante los nuevos desafíos -económicos, religiosos, políticos, culturales, científicos, etc.- a los que hoy nos enfrentamos los cristianos y cristianas, junto a muchos otros, debemos elaborar nuevas respuestas. Y para este cometido debemos tener la misma actitud honesta y creativa que entonces tuvo el Vaticano II y usar, igual que entonces, una metodología capaz de hacer razonablemente fiable la vinculación entre historia y transcendencia.
Redes Cristianas, cuya preocupación fundamental desde su origen ha sido tratar de hacer creíble la fe en cada circunstancia histórica, considera que este aniversario puede ser un tiempo oportuno para actualizar en nuestros días el espíritu de la Primera Asamblea de Jerusalén, que relatan los Hechos de los Apóstoles en su capítulo 15. En este sentido, nos hemos propuesto dedicar nuestro esfuerzo a la constitución de una base suficientemente amplia, empeñada en la búsqueda de una nueva forma de presencia cristiana en el mundo de hoy y, en consecuencia, en la reforma profunda de la Iglesia. Sintonizamos en esta búsqueda con las iniciativas que se están poniendo en marcha por otros grupos católicos de base de todo el mundo, singularmente con América Latina y con la Red Europea de Iglesia por la Libertad de la que somos parte.
2. Nuestra propuesta se dirige al mundo cristiano en su más amplio espectro y a toda persona para la cual la apuesta por la dignidad del ser humano y el sentido de la trascendencia es importante en su vida y quehacer; a todos y todas las que están contra la discriminación -singularmente la de género y la causada por la pobreza- y se esfuerzan por cambiar las estructuras injustas del mundo; a quienes les duele el silencio de la jerarquía ante la crisis y el paro, y su incapacidad para renunciar a sus privilegios; a cuantas y cuantos se desesperan por el deterioro al que la falta de conciencia ecológica está sometiendo el planeta; a las personas que quieren vivir la fe en un contexto de libertad y respeto y no lo encuentran en las instituciones religiosas; a todos aquellos y aquellas que por esta razón se han ido alejando de las iglesias, pero siguen entendiendo como válido para el mundo de hoy el mensaje del evangelio.
3. Con este espíritu, nos proponemos poner en marcha una gran Asamblea del Pueblo Cristiano. No se trata de un evento con un tiempo limitado y una fecha precisa. Lo que pretendemos es más parecido a un proceso horizontal y participativo que se puede ir ajustando a los tres años previos al cincuenta aniversario: horizontal, porque todas las voces deben ser oídas, poniendo su importancia más en lo que se dice que en quién lo dice; y participativo, es decir, asumiendo la responsabilidad que cada cual tenemos ante los demás. Con ello creemos que las fases hasta llegar a la Asamblea podrían ser:
1ª Fase 2012-2013: Constitución. El objetivo de esta fase es ponernos en relación las personas y colectivos, actualmente desvinculados, y constituir entre todos una base social amplia para llevar adelante los fines que nos proponemos. Esta base no debería sentirse limitada por ninguna frontera de país, continente o religión.
2ª Fase 2013-2014: Identificación y priorización de los desafíos. En esta segunda fase deberíamos detectar los grandes problemas de hoy y priorizar nuestra actuación en tanto que acción cristiana.
3ª fase 2014-2015: Posibles respuestas. Coincidiendo con el aniversario de la clausura del Vaticano II, deberíamos encontrar algunas respuestas que definan honestamente nuestra forma de presencia en el mundo empobrecido y en crisis sistémica y la articulación coherente de los medios para una praxis alternativa. Aquí entra la reforma de las instituciones y de las iglesias.
Los colectivos que formamos parte de Redes Cristianas hacemos un llamamiento ante esta tarea urgente que nos proponemos.
